Joy Kimiko was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Being homeschooled allowed her to invest time into studying and practicing many art mediums- oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels and ink, chalk, calligraphy, digital art and her chosen medium: alcohol ink and simple sketching.

While working as a receptionist after graduating online high school, Joy continued her journey as an artist, taking inspiration from her American and Japanese heritage to create unique hand drawn designs with a local Hawaiian twist.

During her time at the office, demand grew for the thank you cards Joy gave patients. Eventually Joy realized it was time to share her simple gift of making people smile with genuine, handmade cards.
